New Mountain Biking Trails Open Up

Ridgway Area Trails Ridgway Colorado

The Ridgway Area Trails Group (RAT) is the Sneffels Chapter of the Colorado Plateau Mountain Bike Association and is responsible for creating a multi-use trail system with diverse mountain bike terrain. Every year, RAT continues to expand these trails from lower elevations surrounding Ridgway to high alpine trails such as the Dallas Trail. More than 40 miles of single track offer some of the most beautiful scenery in the country. There is a trail for every experience level. Think Outside!

On May 13, 2016, RAT opened up the Splinter trail, a section the peels off to the left at the top of Speedy Gonzalez. The new trail climbs briefly, then descends through a series of swooping, in-flow turns, rock drops and other terrain features, and down a gully on about 40 acres immediately east of Speedy Gonzales. With Splinter, Ratical, Plague Ground, Rat Trap, the Maze and Squeaker, the RAT system has a passel of super-fun, fast, swooping, rolling, rollicking descents, and several long, gradual climbs  back up – all on super-buffed, hand-built single track. Check out a trail map on the RAT website.
