Hotel Palomino

Hotel Palomino is owned and operated by long-time hospitality veterans and Ridgway residents, the Young/Ellis’s. They up-cycled a mostly forgotten western building locally known as “trail town”, setting out to offer a fresh hospitality concept with everything the traveler needed, and nothing they didn’t.

The family wanted to give visitors to the region a hotel that was high on design, with a historically relevant western theme, while paring down services that most guests don’t need, or want to pay for.

Hotel Palomino was conceptualized as a hybrid between a hotel and a vacation rental, offering features like contactless check-in and robust regional guides allowing guests to be less reliant upon hotel staff, while offering comfortable, design-centric accommodations that boutique hotels are known for.

Maintaining the charming false front facade architecture of the western town exterior was key for owner/designer Merlyn Ellis of The Lodging Lab. She appointed each of the 12 rooms with a western-modern aesthetic, complete with bespoke antiques and artwork from local artist, Bob DeJulio.
